Most students like and relate to ICTs, students already use ICTs.
Information and communication technologies are deeply embedded in a range of different jobs. Your children will more than likely use some form of ICTs to search for a job (internet search), prepare for a job (resume) and within a job. It will be as normal for them to use today's and tomorrow's ICTs (internet, GPS) just as you did 20 or 30 years ago (phone, fax).
Your children are more than likely using and enjoying some forms of ICTs already. Most students in this day and age will have played a computer game, be it at home, school or a friend’s house. Their motivation is normally high when playing interactive and on-line games. As their teacher I would like to harness their motivation and allow them to build on their prior knowledge to engage in educational games.
When technical modernisations consider a student’s prior experience or knowledge and their “familiarity with the technologies involved”, learning can be enhanced. (Kirkwood, A. & Price, L. 2005.)
